What Is Cheburashka?

The little bear like character, which is loved by many all around the world, is one of Russia’s international symbols of recognition. CHEBURASHKA was originally a cartoon character in the Soviet Union entertaining children and even adults. Cheburashka since the fall of the Soviet Union has grown to worldwide popularity status as that little bear like animal with big ears. Eduard Uspensky first made up the cute little animal in 1966, in his children’s literature books. Soon after this in 1969, the first Cheburashka film was made. Soon after this, Cheburashka became an instant favorite of children all over the Soviet Union. Even to this date, adults and children alike can relate or remember songs that were featured in the cartoon series.

The word “Cheburashka,” can be translated into English as “topple.” The story of Cheburashka is that he once lived in a tropical forest and one day stumbled upon a box of oranges. Cheburashka ate too much, fell asleep in the box of oranges, and the box was delivered to a store in a Russian city. Then after this, the shop manager named him Cheburashka. Cheburashka has his best friend named Gena. Gena is a crocodile that works in a zoo, and wears a bow tie, a hat, and a coat. Gena also sings and plays the accordion in the cartoon. The most famous songs in which are remembered by many from the Cheburashka cartoons are: “Such a pity that one’s birthday happens only once a year,” and “The blue train car.”

Cheburashka is now an international Russian symbol. The stuffed animals of Cheburashka can be bought all over Russia, and he is the toy that the Russian national athletes at the Olympics carry during the opening ceremony. Along with this, the Cheburashka stories can be found in countries such as Sweden and Estonia by different names. In Japan, the popularity of Cheburashka is so large, that it rivals that of Russia. There have been a few attempts to bring the Cheburashka cartoons back to life again in films and new stories, but they have been shot down in several instances.

A Visit To The English County Of Cheshire

Located in north-western England, the county of Cheshire is a fantastic location to go to. It is full of old English charm and relatively unspoiled nature.

The main city of Chester, located on the River Dee, makes for a lovely day trip or a base for your Cheshire explorations. Parts of the city are more than two thousand years old. Visit the beautiful cathedral- construction began in the year 1092 and spanned hundreds of years. It was even left alone when Henry VIII went on a warpath against monasteries because Henry particularly liked it. Grosvenor Park is Chester’s main park, with lovely Victorian paths, a miniature railway, and a children’s play area. Visit Chester Castle and see the medieval remains and the military museum. Enjoy The Groves, Chester’s riverside promenade. Take the kids to the Chester Zoo, one of the finest zoos in Europe. If you are not faint of heart, it even has a bat cave where the bats fly freely around the visitors. Watch the horses at the Chester Racecourse. If you happen to go to Chester around Christmas time you are in for a treat- the city has fantastic Christmas light displays.

The city’s Roman ruins are famous. Chester was one of the main military bases for the Romans in England. Stroll the city walls and imagine watching the English Civil War rage beyond the walls as King Charles I did. Explore the amphitheatre, which at one time was the largest Roman wooden amphitheatre outside of Rome until they built a stone one on its foundations. The Roman Gardens include a reconstructed hypocaust, the Roman version of underfloor heating.

From this historical background, visitors to the city today seek to learn about the aggressive barbarian tribes like the Huns and Goths. Tourism in Rome is a miss without a mention of popular artists like Belini, Bottecelli and Raphael renown for famous paintings and sculptures. For both new and old discoveries, Rome’s fame has evolved over the centuries.

What’s the Cannaregio Neighborhood in Venice Like?

Most first-time visitors to Venice assume that it’s best to stay in the San Marco area so that they are close to the major tourist attractions. I suppose if you have only one or two days in Venice that might be a good strategy, but I prefer some of the quieter neighborhoods.

The great thing about Venice is that it is not a very big city (you can walk from one end of it to the other in under an hour) and it’s a simple matter to get to the major tourist sites using the water bus.

One Venice neighborhood that I love is the area known as the Cannaregio area, which is around the Ca’ d’Oro water bus stop. Staying in this area you will have plenty to do even if you don’t want to venture far. Within a three minute walk is a neighbourhood shopping street, with a beautiful array of shops, restaurants, bakeries, and cafes (called “bars” in Italy).

Planning Your First Trip to Italy

Wondering what to see on your first trip to Italy? I recommend these three wonderful places: Venice, Florence and Rome. Those cities are the three biggest tourist destinations in Italy, and for good reason.

If you only have seven days, I would suggest 2 days in Venice, 3 in Florence and 2 in Rome. While in Florence, book a Tuscany bus tour which takes you to Siena, San Gimignano and Pisa in one day. That way you’ll get to see the Tuscan countryside. If you have more than seven days, then use your extra time for more days in Rome and perhaps a visit to the Cinque Terre (Italian Riviera).

Train travel between Venice, Florence and Rome is easy and fast. Start in Rome, then take the train to Florence and then spend your final two days in Venice. you won’t spend more than two hours on the train on any leg of this journey. Or start in Venice and then go to Florence, ending with Rome. You can book and pay for your train tickets ahead of time online. Just do a search for “trenitalia.com” which will take you to the official train website. Once there, click on the link at the top of the page for “English” (beside the British flag).

Denver Botanic Gardens and Why You Need to Visit

Denver Botanic Gardens has North America’s largest collection of cold climate native plants and it is home to the world’s first Xeriscape garden. This is based on the Xeriscape way of landscaping and gardening. With Xeriscape, the plants and flowers use a system that minimizes the need for water from irrigation to sustain them and makes for a more eco-friendly way of gardening.

The operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Denver Botanic Gardens has several locations of gardens for you to visit. The York Street location has the city’s first publicly accessible green roof, and the Mordecai Children’s Garden allows kids to learn about plants that reside in the center’s Rooftop Alpine Garden. They can learn how plants and animals coexist together in nature and can hunt for bugs and race pinecones down Springmelt Stream, an activity center within the Mordecai Children’s Garden.

At the Chatfield location you’ll see grasslands, beautiful ponds, nature trails, a one-room schoolhouse and a water garden. At Mount Goliath is a mountain area within the garden that’s located 17 miles from Idaho Springs and near Arapaho National Forest. Some of the main attractions of Mount Goliath include alpine forget-me-nots, moss campion, fairy primrose, chiming bells and bristlecone pines. You can also go on wildflower hikes at Mount Goliath.
